264 Sqn. report seeing He 113 escorts

At 110,000 feet the squadron observed a formation of 12 Do 17s in vics line astern. The squadron climbed up and attacked in vics line astern from below, between Herne Bay and Deal.

Whils delivering their attack, they were harrassed by at least 50 Me 109s, which kept diving on them and appeared ot be otherwise unengaged.

The formation of Do 17s adopted no evasive tactics but brought cross fire to bear. Fire was noticed from side panels as well as front and rear positions. The He 113s were also notcied with yellow wing tips.
