Churchill dismisses negotiating with Hitler to the cabinet

During the past few days I have given serious thought as to whether it is not my duty to consider opening negotiations with this person. It would be pointless to believe that we could achieve more favourable terms if we sued for peace now than if we continued to fight. I am also convinced that you would rise up and chase me from office if I were to favour negotiations or a surrender. If the long history of our islands is to come to an end then it shall only end when every last one of is beaten to the ground and lies choking in his blood.
